From a Closed Room to the Open Sky

A Desire… and That Blue Sky

Don’t we all see this every single day?

Don’t we listen to that voice rising from deep within us—asking, when on earth will we fly into that sky?

A single open window in a closed room is enough for us to catch a glimpse of that sky. That window is also enough to remind us that one day, we have to step out of this room. How wonderful the world must be outside; have we ever truly seen it yet?

Perhaps the life of us women is tied to just one hope. That very hope compels us to break out of that room. We feel that this world wasn’t made just for others, but that there is a beautiful and gorgeous world for us too, which we haven’t yet truly witnessed.

And perhaps it often happens that we come into this world and leave, but we never manage to step out of that room to see how breathtaking a view was waiting for us.

We stay entangled in our unspoken confusions—

What will people say?

How will someone look at us?

What will others think of us?

Perhaps these unspoken confusions aren’t even our own. They belong to a society that wants to show us at every step that we were born only to be imprisoned in a room.

And the most ironic part is that the person explaining or telling us this isn’t always a man; very often, it is a woman herself.

I don’t know why we are made to feel so helpless. Why are we constantly reminded at every moment that we will need a man on the journey of our lives? That without him, our life is incomplete. That without him, life isn’t really life. And if we choose our own path, perhaps we will become a blot on this society.

We begin to live such a suffocating life in that closed room because we start believing that this is our entire life.

But…

We never stop looking at that sky.

Every single day, we look at that blue sky, and a new spark is born within our hearts—

“Tomorrow, this sky will be mine.”

And then we think that we will fly so high, our flight will be so soaring that no one will be able to catch us, no one will ever be able to imprison us again.

It is precisely this light that gives us the inner strength

To fight a new battle every day.

To fight for ourselves every single day.

Sometimes, even to fight against our own loved ones.

Just like it is said of an eagle that when it grows old and its talons and wings fail to support it, it forces itself through a difficult transformation. It sheds its old talons and feathers, and through a painful process, regains the strength to fly again.

Perhaps the flight of a woman is much the same.

To fly in the open sky, she has to step out of that closed room.

She has to fight herself.

She has to inflict pain upon herself.

She has to eradicate her weaknesses so that no one can ever imprison her again.

And then, she has to fight against her own loved ones too.

Only then does she manage to step out of that closed room and find her own sky.

This is the story of every woman today.

In every home, in some form or another, such a story is born anew each day.

Some stories reach that sky… and some stories remain imprisoned in that room forever.

My only purpose is to ensure that the stories left trapped in that room are also helped to reach the sky.

To give them flight.

To give them their wings.

So that they do not remain merely a complaint left inside a closed room.

Because this life belongs to them.

It is up to them to decide whether they want just a tiny glimpse of the sky from the window of a closed room…

Or if they want to open the window, step outside, and make the entire sky their own.

That is for you to decide.

For yourself.

And perhaps that is why I want to ask you just one question—

Who are you after all?

And what do you want from your life?

I need an answer to this.

Come… tell me.
