The Person I Choose to Become

If your future self could send you one sentence, what do you hope it would say?

I want my future self to say to me,
“You became what you once wanted to be.”

And I want her to remind me that it happened because of the decisions I made at a time when I was afraid—when I kept wondering whether the choices I was making were actually the right ones.

I didn’t know where those decisions would take me. I didn’t know whether they would work out the way I hoped. But I didn’t give up. I stayed with my choices and kept going.

I want my future self to remember those moments too—those days when I told myself, again and again,
“I am one of the strongest people in this world.”
And I want her to tell me,
“You became that person.”

But this strength is not the kind of strength the outside world talks about. It is not about power, position, money, or being stronger than someone else.

It is the strength I found within myself.

The strength that slowly took away my fear.

The strength that taught me to stand by my own decisions.

The strength that taught me to trust myself, even when I wasn’t sure whether I was right.

And when I look back at my life in the future, I want there to be a smile on my face.

A smile that says,

”Look at how difficult it was. Look at how many times I was afraid. And yet, I stayed standing.”

And then I want my future self to look at me and say,

”Look… you became the person you once dreamed of becoming.”
